Salute To Our Unsung Heroes

And who are they?
The ordinary Malaysians, of course. They are the ones who have shown us little things like respect, compassion, human decency.
I am posting this after reading MarinaM's "Musings" in the Star (Wednesday Aug 1).

I was discussing her piece with my sisters. Mariah and Nina at (our grandniece's) Ayna's first birthday party in Shah Alam.
We thought how apt Marina's sentiments were.

And here, we salute you, the ordinary Malaysians who are outstanding, in no small measure. The unsung heroes.
Read Marina's musing on Wednesday here.

i like what she wrote. specially the part,

"Then there are all the ones baying for the blood of bloggers, as if bloggers are the root of all evil in this country, and not their own inadequacies.

I would not only name them the Worst Malaysians in the Past 50 Years but also the most ignorant and imbecilic.

None of them actually know what a blog is or what a blogger does, yet are happy to label them all sorts of names, including unpatriotic, unprofessional and liars.

Funnily enough, they also label bloggers “not read by many” and “goblok” (stupid), which apparently means “political bloggers”. That is a sure sign that some people just have no clue."

salute to Marina!! =-)

Unsung heroes? Who cares of you and I. The politicians are really aware of the rakyat once in every 5 years, come General Election. At other times, they don't give a damn. How many leaders gave a damn when Johor was hit by its worst floods? Someone was flying off with his future wife to faraway cities, dreaming of a yacht and a jet and a honeymoon that will last forever. Come the time, and the funds are drying up, they'll come to us again and tell us we have enjoyed this subsidy or that subsidy for too long and that we should pay more taxes so that they can buy more yachts, more jets and extend their honeymoons beyond forever.

rocky (ahirudin),

Frankly, I don't care if they don't care about you and I, the common people.
Can you imagine what will happen if there is a referendum in this country?

You and I count, as far as I am concerned.
If there is an election tomorrow, I know who I won't vote for. If every vote counts, then every blogger's vote, and the vote of every reader of blogs count, won't it?

Thanks Ena. I got more feedback on this column than anything else. I guess people are just fed-up with people who reward and award themselves all the time. What was that award that Zam got? Best Journalist of All Time or something?
